About Maine Lighthouses

My first exposure to lighthouses came during a boating trip to Vinalhaven, taken on a warm sunny summer’s day with my father as a young boy. We got lost in the fog on the return trip home to Rockland, Maine but were able to locate the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse and thus able to gather our bearings in order to return to port. Since that first exposure to a lighthouse, a good portion of my vacation time (and savings) has been spent on trips to Maine lighthouses. I initially had not planned on visiting every lighthouse in Maine, but that eventually did happen in 2008.
